When you ask Alexa to play music, it will always try to find the song, artist, album, or station in your Amazon Music Library or on Prime Music unless you append your request with ââ¦on Pandoraâ or ââ¦on Spotify.â Now you can change which music service is used by Alexa when no service is specified with your request. To do so, load up the Alexa App, select âSettingsâ from the left side menu, scroll down and select âMusic & Media,â and press the âChoose default music serviceâ button at the bottom. Youâll then be given the option to select a default music library other than Amazon, like Spotify, and a default station service other than Amazon, like Pandora or iHeartRadio. The option does not appear to be available through Amazonâs Alexa web portal yet. Changing the default music service will effect all Alexa devices registered to your account. You cannot select the default music service on a per device basis. Itâs great to see Amazon giving customers this type of control which opens up their walled garden just a little bit more.
The Amazon Echo uses Amazonâs Prime Music as the default service for any music you want to play. But you can also connect your Spotify account to the Amazon Echo and tell Alexa to play anything through the third-party service. RELATED: How to Set Up and Configure Your Amazon Echo. Amazon just made it super simple to default all music playback to Spotify or Pandora through the Alexa app. So now when you say to your Amazon Echo, 'Alexa, play 'Phantoms,' the smart assistant.
Amazon's Echo speakers have a ton of smart capabilities, but until recently, playing music from any service other than Prime Music required telling the device which service to use each time. Make Spotify or Pandora the default music player on your Amazon Echo. You don't have to use Amazon's music service to listen to tunes, especially if you pay for a subscription.

I was able to change the music library to Spotify but itâs not an option for the station service.

YMMV. I donât seem to have the option to change Default Music Service after upgrading the Alexa app to the latest available version from the App Store Jailbreak apps for spotify.

https://cleverns775.weebly.com/blog/spotify-mac-add-local-files. Hi, I recently installed a new Kenwood bluetooth stereo into my car, and I love the fact that when I get in the car it automatically picks up from where I left off in my songs. Only problem is, it plays from the Music app instead of Spotify, and being someone who uses Spotify pretty much constantly, this is a huge pain. The only time this doesn't happen is when I turn my car off and turn it back on less than an hour later (like when going into a store or something). All the other times, even though Spotify is paused in the middle of a song from the last time I was driving, the Music app will select a random song from my library and start playing that instead. I am out of ideas on how to fix this, as I've already tried researching the problem and done the few things that were suggested, such as completely closing the Music app (which didn't work).

Thanks in advance for any ideas you have to offer!
